In preparation of Open House, 20 Brussels based artists shared their experiences and views on topics such as work, income, Brussels, organizing artistic practices that don’t fit predefined discpilines or frameworks, being an ‘established artist’ and the possible meanings of ‘slow art’.
En préparation de Open House, 20 artistes basés à Bruxelles ont partagé leurs expériences et visions sur des thèmes tels que le travail, le revenu, la vie à Bruxelles, comment organiser une pratique artistique qui ne correspond pas toujours aux disciplines et cadres préétablis, que signifie ‘être un artiste établi’ et les significations possibles du ‘Slow Art’.
Ter voorbereiding van Open House deelden 20 kunstenaars uit Brussel hun ervaringen met en visies op thema’s als werk, inkomen, Brussel, het realiseren van kunstpraktijken buiten de strikt afgebakende kaders of traditionele disciplines en de mogelijke betekenissen van ‘Slow Art’.

The first edition of Open House took place in Brussels on the 17th, 18th and 19th of May 2012. 24 artistic laboratories and alternative management offices joined forces to organize this event, together with Brussels Kunstenoverleg (BKO), Kunstenfestivaldesarts (KFDA), Vlaams Theater Instituut (Vti), BAM and La Bellone. Open House wanted to focus on the activity of these organizations and what makes them so explicit. At the same time the event offered a platform to the artists working in the artistic laboratories. Open House was divided in moments of reflection and presentations. A next edition has not been scheduled yet.

La première édition de Open House a eu lieu à Bruxelles les 17, 18 et 19 mai 2012. Cet événement était organisé conjointement par 24 laboratoires de recherche artistique et bureaux de management alternatif bruxellois, en collaboration avec le Brussels Kunstenoverleg (BKO), le Kunstenfestivaldesarts (kfda), le Vlaams Theater Instituut (Vti), BAM et La Bellone. Open House avait pour but d’attirer l’attention sur le travail effectué au sein de ces organisations et les pratiques caractéristiques à celles-ci, tout en promouvant les artistes qu’elles représentent. L’événement s’est divisé en moments de réflexion et de présentations. Pour l’instant, les discussions autour d’une prochaine édition n’ont pas encore été entamée.

De eerste editie van Open House vond plaats in Brussel op 17, 18 en 19 mei 2012. Dit evenement werd gezamenlijk georganiseerd door 24 artistieke laboratoria en alternatieve managementbureaus uit Brussel, in samenwerking met het Brussels Kunstenoverleg (BKO), het Kunstenfestivaldesarts (KFDA), het Vlaams Theater Instituut (VTi), BAM en La Bellone. Open House had de bedoeling om de aandacht te vestigen op de werking van deze organisaties en wat hen zo specifiek maakt. Tegelijk bood Open House een platform aan de kunstenaars werkzaam in de laboratoria. Het evenement was opgedeeld in reflectiemomenten en presentaties. Een volgende editie is voorlopig nog niet gepland.
